At Highway, we’re passionate about sharing the love of Jesus in real, practical ways. Through local projects and partnerships, we get to serve those doing it tough and help meet genuine needs.
One of our key partnerships is with Child Safety, where we support children and families with care packs, emergency items, and seasonal initiatives throughout the year.
Every year there are hundreds of families in our local community that are struggling to provide the basic essentials for their children. There is nothing worse than feeling anxious and unsure, especially through tough family circumstances.
The Department of Child Safety works with thousands of families within the community to protect children and young people and to help find them a safe home. Gotcha Back partners with various child safety offices and puts together backpacks full of essentials for young people in need. We aim to ensure that every child feels comfortable, warm and clean, no matter their circumstance.

“Every single backpack gives these kids a new chance at hope and some things to call their own”
Erin - Child Safety Officer
“For them to be able to have their own bag, with a lunchbox, a drink bottle and a toy, it definitely does make things feel a little bit calmer and easier for them.”

Check out other ways we are impacting our community
Monday - Thursday throughout the school term we provide students with a nutritious breakfast at Pimpama State Primary College. This is so helpful to have students well fed and ready to learn!
We provide snacks for local school chaplains and the department of child safety offices. This gives children without food a chance for a snack when it matters most.
We provide easter eggs to children in foster care and under the care of child safety every easter.
We provide the morning tea for the ANZAC day service at the Upper Coomera Community Centre.
Every Mothers and Fathers day we provide hampers to parents in need within our community. We reach out to local schools to help us find parents to bless.
At Christmas we provide gifts to every child in foster care on the Gold Coast.
Additionally, we provide hampers to families within Child Safety or local schools doing it tough - anything to bring some joy for these families at Christmas.
Throughout the year, local schools and the department of child safety make us aware of various needs that we can help with for struggling families or victims escaping domestic violence. These include food and fuel vouchers, appliances, clothes, car seats, or various other necessities.
