My grandson is now 21 years old, but I still remember the delight in his father’s voice when he rang our family and announced, “I have a Son!” There is great rejoicing when a new child is born.

Even though it is over 2000 years since Jesus’ birth, we still remember and celebrate with great joy that first Christmas morning when angels announced that the Saviour of the world was born. Jesus! God’s Son! His joy!

God confirmed many times in scripture that Jesus is His Son. When Jesus was coming up out of the waters of baptism, suddenly a voice came from heaven saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased” (Luke 3:22). Again on the Mount of Transfiguration, God spoke from a cloud and declared to those present, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased, hear Him!’ (Luke 9:35).

God still speaks to us and offers us the greatest gift He could give, the gift of His Son, Jesus.

John 3:16 tells us that God loved the world so much, that He gave His one and only Son, and that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. Will you accept that free gift of salvation today?
